I find that a new server (even if the OS is the same can have things that you'll want to "fix" about it (php settings, mysql settings, etc.) I find it best to have the old Moodle working at the same time as the new Moodle, compare the two and see what doesn't feel right. @Scott I would recommend moving to the new server first then upgrading. I want to upgrade and I think that would be OK but I also want to migrate to a new server (virtual) that I have installed the latest WAMP on. Although I set Moodle up and manage a lot of PHP programs I really am not an authority on how it works. I already have the latest version of moodle on my new site. Would you know how I should go about moving everything across? I know I have to move the MYSQL databases and have done a dump (72Mb SQL file).
