<a href="#comment-1002" rel="nofollow">@Scott</a> I would recommend moving to the new server first then upgrading. I find that a new server (even if the OS is the same can have things that you'll want to "fix" about it (php settings, mysql settings, etc.) I find it best to have the old Moodle working at the same time as the new Moodle, compare the two and see what doesn't feel right.

Hi,
Just reading your blog compared to the Moodle site on upgrading.

I want to upgrade and I think that would be OK but I also want to migrate to a new server (virtual) that I have installed the latest WAMP on.

Although I set Moodle up and manage a lot of PHP programs I really am not an authority on how it works.

I already have the latest version of moodle on my new site.
Would you know how I should go about moving everything across?
I know I have to move the MYSQL databases and have done a dump (72Mb SQL file). I guess I have to copy across the Moodledata folder and config files as well.

Just don't want to spend days doing thsi if someone has already done it.

Regards
Scott Johnson

Even better news...the new upgrade also forces enrollment keys so that people can't just enroll themselves into classes on a whim.
