Did you check to see if turning of Moodle stats fixes the problem? Other than that I’m at a loss as to what your problem is. The steps I outline above may help lead you to the answer, although there is no guarantee.

I came across this interesting post of yours. Our Moodle website (intranet > Windows Server 2003) has been running fine for a very long time until recently when the message “Error: Database connection failed….” started to pop up from time to time. Restarting the server seems to be the only fix at the moment. I have looked into all kinds of logs to get a handle on the problem but in vain. Any ideas…
